Are service dogs allowed in Churches?

It’s a great question, and the answer is: not necessarily (in the U.S.) While service dogs are allowed to go almost anywhere the public may go with their disabled handler, there are a few exceptions, and one of them is religious organizations. In other words, religious organizations can deny access to a service animal under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. However, individual state laws may vary.

Q34. Are churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other places of worship required to allow individuals to bring their service animals into the facility?

No.  Religious institutions and organizations are specifically exempt from the ADA.  However, there may be State laws that apply to religious organizations.
